The Globe Theatre

The Globe Theatre was a theatre in London was built in 1599 by Shakespeare's Playing Company, and was destroyed by a fire on 29 June 1613. A second Globe Theatre was built on the same site by June 1614 and closed in 1642. A modern reconstruction of the Globe, named Shakespeare’s globe, opened in 1997.

On 29 June 1613 the Globe Theatre went up in flames during a performance of Henry V111. A theatrical cannon, set off during the performance, misfired, igniting the wooden beams and thatching. According to one of the few surviving documents of the event, no one was hurt except one man.

Like all the other theatres in London, the Globe was closed down by the Puritans in 1642. It was pulled down in 1644.

something wicked this way comes

Its Halloween and 9 year old Lucy is going trick or treating: alone.

Lucy gets dressed in her costume. She dressed as a ghost with fake, scarlet red blood splattered over dirty, white sheets that were draped over her head and shoulders. She got ready to leave. Little did she know she would live to regret ever walking out of her front door...

Lucy walked down the lonely, dark street. The ominous glow of the street lights dimly illuminated her way, the rain pounded down, almost horizontal in the wind it stung her stomach through the thin bed sheets. She gots to the first house at the end of her street and knocked on the door. No answer. She knocked again. Suddenly she heard a blood curdling scream and an ear pounding bang from inside the house; she backed slowly out of the garden. As she turned round a man jumped out of a bush in the garden. Lucy ran as fast as her legs would carry her. Her heart pounded against her chest. She wasn't fast enough, the man stuck his shimmering blade right in to her stomach. She fell, her head striking the kerb. The evil man ran off down the street. Lucy lay motionless; on the cold ground.

Lucy finally regained consciousness and used all of her strength to pull her self up off the floor. She screamed, but no one came. She staggered, clutching her stomach, to next house to look for help. She knocked on the door and as best she could shouted, "help!" It was really a whimper; it sounded louder in Lucy's head.

An old lady opened the door with a big friendly smile and laughed. She said "I love your costume, it looks so believable" and she gave Lucy a chocolate bar. She thinks it is part of my costume Lucy thought to herself. She slowly staggered out of the old lady's garden and decided she has no strength left, she sat on the floor and her eyes started to close, she fell back and with a last painful breath, she died!

That was twelve years ago and every Halloween to this day, Lucy comes back to haunt the man who killed her. But now her costume is real!!!!

More information on Boccia

Boccia

Introduction

There are six red balls and six blue balls with a white jack. The aim is to get your coloured balls closer to the jack than your opponents. The sport is especially suitable for disabled people as the balls are easy to grip and can be thrown or kicked. People who are unable to throw the ball can use a chute or ramp and release the ball after aligning the ramp even though this game was introduced as a game for people with disabilities, people without disabilities can still play. It would be a great way to meet new people.

Where can I play?

There are loads of places you can play Boccia, such as: Chesire academy boccia club (29.9 miles away) RGK sporting club rhinos, Wolverhampton (64.6 miles away) and many more!!!

What do I need to do to play?

Most Boccia clubs will provide their own equipment so all you will need is your self, but always check first.
